The White House…
Situated in some of the most beautiful countryside in the South of England - but only 11/4 hours by train from London - The White House is in the village of Little Bedwyn in the County of Wiltshire and on the banks of the picturesque Kennet & Avon Canal (see How to find us for detailed map references and directions).
By car: the village of Little Bedwyn is 10 minutes from the town of Hungerford in the County of Berkshire, 20 minutes from Marlborough in the County of Wiltshire.
By train: from Great Bedwyn railway station (5 minutes by car from Little Bedwyn) there are regular trains to/from London (75 minutes) and the West of England with connections to the rest of the UK and Europe.
By air: comfortably accessible to/from all the major airports (London Heathrow, Gatwick, Bristol, Luton, Southampton) in the South of England.
By sea: If you plan to drive from Europe, The White House is 2¾ hours from Dover or Folkstone and 1½ hours from Southampton or Portsmouth.
Your 'home-away-from-home'…
The White House is the home of Annie and Christopher Nicholl but we hope you will feel totally 'one of the family' during your stay with us!
In 2007, the house was extensively renovated and redecorated to provide two additional luxury en-suite (private) bathrooms and a very high standard of accommodation for our our ‘Learning English on Holiday’ guests.
Annie, as well as being a superb cook, has her own successful garden
design and consultancy business (www.nichollgardendesign.co.uk).
In 2004, after many years in international business-to-business advertising and marketing, Christopher studied to become a CELTA* qualified Teacher of business and social English to foreign Students (TEFL).
After two years as a residential teacher at the eminent
Marcus Evans Linguarama Language College (one of the largest international business language and communication training organizations), Christopher wanted to spend more time with his wife and family – aaaaahh!
‘Learning English on Holiday’ + 'live' online teaching is the solution.
Annie and Christopher look forward to welcoming you to their home.
P.S. In case you are allergic to cats, ours three cats are not permitted in our guests’ bedrooms!
